Cut Match

Cut Match Worksheet

Worksheet Description

Students cut out small images from the bottom row and paste them into the correct box containing the matching “est” family word. Words include best, chest, guest, quest, vest, rest, test, nest, and pest. Students must examine each picture carefully to determine which word it represents before placing it in the right cell. This interactive sorting activity promotes engagement and reinforces phonics understanding.

The cut-and-paste format strengthens fine motor coordination as students manipulate small pieces. Matching pictures to words builds decoding skills and strengthens orthographic recognition of the “est” pattern. The categorization task encourages analytical thinking as students compare options. Hands-on learning helps deepen retention and supports multi-sensory literacy development.

This worksheet is part of our est word family worksheet of our phonics collection.
