Count Tally Go!

Count Tally Go!

Worksheet Description

Count all of the objects that are located in each row.  Write the number of objects and create a tally set to denote this value.

This worksheet is structured for students to count objects and record their quantities using tally marks and numerals. The objects are grouped into sets, each within its own row, and vary from common household items to food and tools. One example is provided, showing seven items counted with tally marks and the numeral written beside them. Students are expected to count the items in the remaining rows and similarly record the total using tally marks and numerals.

The worksheet teaches students the dual skills of counting objects and translating that count into tally marks and numerals. It reinforces the understanding of tallies as a counting method, where every fifth item is represented by a cross line over four vertical lines. This method helps in quickly visualizing and adding up quantities. The activity also enhances the students’ fine motor skills and their ability to accurately count and represent numbers, which are fundamental mathematical skills.
