Letter Sorting
Worksheet Description
This worksheet is titled “Letter Sort” and it’s designed to help children learn to distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters, using the letter ‘G’ as an example. It features two large glasses, one labeled with an uppercase ‘G’ and the other with a lowercase ‘g’, each with squares inside them meant for pasting letters. At the bottom of the worksheet, there are cut-out letters – both uppercase ‘G’ and lowercase ‘g’ – which the children are instructed to cut and then paste into the correct glass. The top of the worksheet has a space for the child to write their name.
The activity teaches letter recognition by sorting uppercase and lowercase versions of the letter ‘G’. It also develops fine motor skills through the cutting and pasting process. This task will reinforce the visual difference between the two cases of the letter ‘G’, which is an essential skill for early literacy. Moreover, it encourages children to practice categorization, a cognitive skill that is useful across many learning scenarios.
