Animal Weight

Animal Weight Worksheet

Worksheet Description

This worksheet is set up into four sections, each displaying pairs of animals, under the heading “Heavy vs Light.” The pairs of animals include a whale and a turtle, a camel and its calf, a cow and a cat, and finally, a penguin and a fish. Students are instructed to look at the animals in each box and circle the one that is light. The contrasting sizes and implied weights of the animals are presented in such a way that it allows the children to visually identify the lighter of the two animals with ease.

The worksheet aims to teach students about the concept of weight by having them identify which animal is lighter within each pair. This helps to develop their understanding of lightness as a physical property and improves their ability to compare and contrast objects based on their perceived weight. Such an activity is fundamental in laying the groundwork for future science and physics lessons regarding mass and weight. It also expands the children’s vocabulary and comprehension related to the physical characteristics of different animals.
