Thunder Maze
Worksheet Description
Students travel through a large maze by following only correctly spelled words ending in -er. They begin with teacher and work toward thunder, while every other space contains a spelling that may be correct or incorrect. The maze mixes true -er worker words with unrelated words that merely end in the same sound. Students may move only up, down, left, or right to reach the finish.
This worksheet helps students recognize that the letters -er can appear in many different kinds of words. They must tell the difference between correct spellings and close errors involving people, objects, weather, and common nouns. Following the maze also builds concentration because one poor choice can lead to a dead end. This strengthens visual spelling memory, proofreading, attention, and word recognition.
This worksheet is part of our words ending in er worksheet series.
