The 3 Branches of Government

The 3 Branches of Government

Worksheet Description

Imagine if running a country was like playing on a team. To make sure everything goes smoothly, we have three important teams in our government. These teams are kind of like superheroes, each with their special powers to keep our country safe and fair. Let’s meet these superhero teams and learn about their roles!

The Lawmakers – Legislative Branch

Our first superhero team is called the “Lawmakers.” They work in a place called the “Capitol.” These are the people who make the rules or laws for our country. It’s a bit like making the rules for a game you play with your friends. They talk about ideas for new laws, like rules for schools or keeping our air clean, and then they vote to decide if these ideas become real laws. The lawmakers are divided into two groups: the “House of Representatives” and the “Senate.” This way, they can work together to make sure the rules are fair for everyone.

The Enforcers – Executive Branch

Our second superhero team is the “Enforcers.” They are led by the President, who is like the team captain. Their job is to make sure the laws that the lawmakers created are carried out or enforced. It’s like making sure everyone follows the rules when you’re playing a game. They also represent our country to other countries and make important decisions. The President has a team of helpers called “Cabinet members” who are experts in different areas, like education or health, to give advice.

The Judges – Judicial Branch

Our third superhero team is the “Judges.” They are like the referees in a game. Their job is to make sure the rules (laws) are fair and that everyone follows them. When there’s a problem or disagreement about the rules, people can go to court, where the judges listen to both sides and decide what’s right. At the top is the “Supreme Court,” which makes really big decisions for the whole country.
