A common type of friendly letter is called a “thank you note.” A thank you note is a short, friendly letter to thank someone for something that they have done. Thank you notes:

• Include the date that you are writing
• Have a personalized greeting
• Are specific about what you are thanking the person for; and
• Include your name in the signature
