Worksheet Description

Our “Text Complexity Analysis” worksheet is designed to help students systematically assess and rate the complexity of various texts they encounter. It features a table with columns covering essential aspects of text complexity.

Students will fill in information such as the title and author of the text, its genre, grade level suitability, format and layout, purpose and meaning, text structures and discourse style, language features, and knowledge demands. For each of these factors, students will rate the complexity from Simple (1) to Complex (3).

In the “Overall” column, students will provide an overall complexity rating (Low, Medium, or High) for the text based on their analysis. This comprehensive tool encourages critical thinking, close reading, and a deeper understanding of text characteristics.
