Ask To Be Rated

Speech Projects #15

Worksheet Description

The “Practicing the Two-Minute Speech” worksheet is designed for speakers to receive feedback from a friend or classmate on a short speech delivered in intervals. It breaks the two-minute speech into four thirty-second segments, asking the evaluator to rate their approval or disapproval after each segment and provide an explanation for their rating. Additionally, it includes questions at the end to assess whether the speaker established credibility (ethos), made logical connections (logos), and appealed to emotion (pathos) during the speech.

The worksheet aims to teach students the importance of pacing and progression in speech delivery, as well as the fundamentals of rhetoric. By receiving immediate feedback on each thirty-second segment, the speaker can understand how well they are maintaining the audience’s interest and effectively communicating their message throughout the speech. The focus on ethos, logos, and pathos introduces students to classical principles of persuasion, encouraging them to integrate these elements into their speaking to enhance their impact. This structured practice and critique process is crucial for developing effective public speaking and presentation skills.
