Shapes Within Objects
Worksheet Description
This worksheet presents a series of images on the left side, each constructed from a variety of geometric shapes. Next to each image, there is a set of three different shapes. The student’s task is to look at the composite image and then identify which of the three shapes is not used in its construction. At the bottom of the worksheet, there is a self-assessment section where students can reflect on their performance by circling a happy, neutral, or sad face.
The worksheet is designed to enhance a student’s ability to recognize and differentiate between shapes used in composite images. It teaches students to analyze a picture and identify shapes, promoting attention to detail and critical thinking. This exercise not only reinforces shape recognition but also introduces the concept of negative space — identifying what is absent from a given design. Furthermore, the self-assessment portion encourages students to engage in self-reflection about their learning process.
