Oktoberfest

Worksheet Description
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest and most famous beer festival, held annually in Munich, Germany. It typically runs for about 16 to 18 days, beginning in late September and concluding in the first weekend of October. The festival is a vibrant celebration of Bavarian culture, featuring a wide array of traditional German foods, music, dance, and, of course, copious amounts of spirits.
The origins of Oktoberfest date back to October 12, 1810, when Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. To celebrate their wedding, a grand public festival was held, which eventually evolved into what we now know as Oktoberfest. Today, millions of visitors from around the world gather in Munich’s Theresienwiese (Theresa’s Meadow) to enjoy a lively atmosphere filled with beer tents, fair rides, parades, and a genuine taste of Bavarian culture. It’s a time for both locals and tourists to don traditional lederhosen and dirndls, clink their beer steins, and revel in the joyous spirit of Oktoberfest.
