International Men’s Day

International Men's Day

Worksheet Description

International Men’s Day is observed annually on November 19th to shine a light on positive male role models and to raise awareness of men’s issues. These issues can range from mental health and well-being to promoting positive masculinity and challenging harmful stereotypes. The day serves as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions men make to society, family, marriage, and childcare, while highlighting the discrimination and challenges they can face.

Initiated in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999 by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, International Men’s Day has since garnered global recognition. It encourages communities worldwide to promote male health, improve gender relations, and foster gender equality. By celebrating men’s achievements and contributions, especially in community, family, marriage, and child care, the day works towards creating a safer, better world where all individuals can strive for their potential.
