Naming Insects

Worksheet Description

Students will complete the words to name all of the insects on this worksheet.  This worksheet includes the following insects: ant, cockroach, beetle, green ant, dragon fly, grasshopper, butterfly, and mosquito.

This worksheet is a playful and educational activity focused on various insects. Presented with vibrant illustrations of seven distinct bugs, students are tasked with identifying each insect by filling in the missing letters of its name. The worksheet provides scrambled letters below each insect, with blank spaces indicating where letters are missing, guiding students to deduce the correct name.

To successfully complete the worksheet, students should start by observing the visual representation of each insect. Using their prior knowledge of insect names or through process of elimination, they can then ascertain which letters are missing from the jumbled assortment provided beneath each image. By filling in the blanks with the appropriate letters, students will reveal the name of each insect. Repeating this process for all seven illustrations will enable them to complete the entire exercise.

The primary objective of this worksheet is to reinforce students’ familiarity with common insect names while simultaneously enhancing their spelling and deductive reasoning skills. By presenting the names as puzzles, the activity transforms a typical identification task into a more engaging and mentally stimulating challenge. As a result, students are encouraged not only to recall the names of various insects but also to sharpen their problem-solving and observational capabilities in a fun and interactive manner.
