Inference And Characterization

Inference And Characterization

Worksheet Description

This Grade 11 Reading Literature Comprehension worksheet centers on the character analysis of Lucy in E.M. Forster’s novel, “A Room With A View.” Students are tasked with providing a comprehensive description of Lucy’s personality based on their reading of the novel.

Following this initial description, students are encouraged to reflect on their assessment. They must distinguish between explicit character traits presented in the novel and inferences they have drawn from the text. Specifically, students are asked to identify three aspects of Lucy’s personality that they have inferred and locate the corresponding passages in the novel where they derived these conclusions.

This exercise promotes critical thinking, close reading, and the ability to discern implicit character development within literature.
