Answering Prompts

Giving Directions #13

Worksheet Description

The “Giving Directions” worksheet is a written activity designed to help students practice the skill of giving detailed directions within a familiar environment – their school. The worksheet provides four different prompts that require students to write out the steps they would take to get from one location to another, such as from their classroom to the cafeteria, from the front door to their locker, from their classroom to the library, and from their classroom to a place on the school grounds where they enjoy sports or recreation. Each prompt is accompanied by a relevant illustration, such as a cafeteria tray or a stack of books, to visually cue the destination or starting point.

The goal of this worksheet is to reinforce students’ understanding of spatial concepts and their ability to communicate routes and locations clearly. It encourages them to think about the layout of their school and to describe pathways in a logical and sequential manner. This exercise helps students develop critical thinking as they have to consider the most efficient or familiar routes. By engaging with this activity, students are also practicing writing skills, particularly in composing clear and coherent instructions.
