Franklin Roosevelt

Worksheet Description
Let’s journey back in time and meet a president named Franklin D. Roosevelt. Many people called him “FDR” for short. FDR faced some of the toughest times our country has ever seen, but he was determined to help the United States shine brightly again.
FDR was the 32nd president and he served a long time, longer than any other president before or after him. Imagine being the leader of a country for 12 whole years! During his time, the United States faced two big problems: the Great Depression and World War II.
The Great Depression was a time when many people lost their jobs, and it was hard for families to buy things they needed. But FDR had a plan. He started what was called the “New Deal.” This wasn’t a card game or a way to trade toys. The New Deal was a group of programs to create jobs and help people get back on their feet. Because of this, many parks, schools, and bridges were built. It was a way to make the country stronger while giving people work.
Then, there was World War II. This was a big war that involved many countries around the world. FDR was a strong leader during this challenging time. He worked with other leaders from different countries, like Winston Churchill from England, to come up with plans to end the war and bring peace.
