Sorting Foods

Sorting Foods Worksheet

Worksheet Description

This worksheet is a classification activity designed to educate students about the five main food groups. It features a series of colorful boxes at the top, each representing one of the food groups: Carbohydrates, Fats, Dairy products, Proteins and iron, and Fruit and vegetables. Below these boxes, there are various food item illustrations such as bread, cheese, fish, and fruits. Students are tasked with dragging and dropping each food illustration into the correct category, and the bottom of the sheet includes a self-evaluation area where students can rate how they feel about their work.

The worksheet is aimed at teaching students to recognize and understand the basic categories of food groups that make up a healthy, balanced diet. By sorting different food items into their respective groups, students learn to identify what types of foods provide carbohydrates, fats, dairy, proteins, and vitamins or minerals. This activity helps to lay the foundation for nutritional literacy and encourages healthy eating habits. Furthermore, the self-assessment feature prompts students to reflect on their performance and to self-regulate their learning process.
