Worksheet Description

This worksheet is designed to help students differentiate between two literary devices – pathetic fallacy and personification. It provides a structured format with three sections where students can write down characteristics unique to pathetic fallacy, traits unique to personification, and traits common to both. The top of the sheet features an image of a cloud with a human face, hinting at the anthropomorphism present in both devices. The clear division of sections encourages students to think critically about how these devices are similar and different.

The “Characterful Clouds and Talking Trees Chart” is teaching students to compare and contrast pathetic fallacy with personification.
