Shaping The Narrative
Worksheet Description
This Character Traits worksheet centers on the main character in a story, encouraging students to examine how their positive and negative traits contribute to the development of the narrative.
Students start by identifying the main character in the story and then list both positive and negative character traits of that individual.
The worksheet then prompts students to reflect on how these traits play a role in shaping the storyline. They are encouraged to think about how the character’s positive traits drive the plot forward, contribute to their growth, or resolve conflicts, as well as how their negative traits might introduce obstacles or create tension.
By analyzing the character’s traits and their impact on the story, students gain a deeper understanding of character-driven storytelling and how authors use character traits to advance plotlines and themes in literature.
