Character’s Dialogue

Character Development #10

Worksheet Description

This Character Development worksheet assists students in deepening the character creation process by focusing on dialogue. It prompts students to articulate the main character’s primary trait and then devise what that character might say in two different important scenes, at pivotal moments that would reveal this trait to the reader. The worksheet provides space for students to describe each scene and then write down the potential dialogue that would demonstrate the character’s trait, allowing students to practice crafting revealing and character-consistent dialogue.

The worksheet teaches students how dialogue can be used strategically in storytelling to reveal character traits. It encourages them to think critically about how their characters express themselves and interact with others in various situations. Through this exercise, students learn to show their character’s personality, beliefs, and motivations through their speech, which is an essential skill for creating dynamic and believable characters in writing. This approach helps students understand the importance of dialogue in character development and plot advancement.
