What Made That Sound?

What Made That Sound? Worksheet

Worksheet Description

Draw a line to match the animal to the correct sound that it may make.  You may complete this by process of elimination, but some of the words may confuse students.  We would recommend having a research terminal ready for students to use as a reference.

This worksheet is designed as a matching exercise for children, where they must connect various animals to the sounds they are known to make. On the left side, there are illustrations of five different animals, including a bat, a frog, a mouse, a snake, and a mosquito. Each animal is next to a dot, intended to be joined with another dot beside the correct sound word in a speech bubble on the right. The sounds provided are “HISS,” “WHINE,” “CHIRP,” “SCREECH,” and “SQUEAK,” and the task is to draw lines between the animals and these corresponding sounds.

The purpose of this worksheet is to help children learn and associate the sounds that are specific to certain animals, developing their understanding of animal noises. It encourages students to practice their matching and reasoning skills as they determine which sound aligns with which animal. This activity also serves to expand their vocabulary with onomatopoeic words that mimic animal sounds. Additionally, it helps to refine their motor skills as they draw the lines to make the correct connections.
