Our Feathered Friends Worksheet

Worksheet Description

We have 6 different birds that we need to match with.  You will need scissors and glue to complete this activity.  Make sure your sounds are correct before you paste them to the sheet.

This worksheet is a matching activity targeted at young learners, focusing on the association between birds and the sounds they make. There are images of five different birds, including an owl and a penguin, at the bottom of the page. Above these images, speech bubbles feature words like “WHISTLE,” “HOO,” “SQUAWK,” “COO,” “CACKLE,” and “CAW,” representing the noises commonly made by these birds. The exercise requires students to draw lines from each word in the speech bubbles to the corresponding bird that produces that sound.

The worksheet’s objective is to educate students on the specific sounds that different birds make, thereby enhancing their knowledge of avian communication. It serves to promote cognitive skills by encouraging students to think critically about which sound is associated with which bird. This task is also designed to expand the students’ vocabulary by introducing them to onomatopoeic words that replicate the sounds birds make. Furthermore, by drawing lines to the correct birds, the worksheet aids in the development of fine motor skills.
