Life of a Maya Commoner and Noble
Worksheet Description
On this worksheet students will compare the lives of of a Maya commoner to that of a noble.
The most obvious difference between commoners and nobles was their social status. Nobles were born into their privileged position and held significant power and influence within Maya society, while commoners had limited social mobility and often struggled to make ends meet.
Maya nobles received a higher level of education and training than commoners, with specialized schools and teachers available to instruct them in subjects such as writing, mathematics, and religion. Commoners, on the other hand, generally received more practical, hands-on training in trades and agriculture.
