The Aztec empire was one of only several that required all children to be educated. Other civilizations educated their upper classes, but the Aztecs educated everyone, regardless of class, gender, or rank, however, the schools were segregated.

Aztec girls did not begin school until the age of 12 or 13. There, they learned skills which would help them to be good wives and mothers. Aztec girls learned religion, as well as household skills like cooking, sewing, weaving, and childcare.
