What’s Missing?

What's Missing? Worksheet

Worksheet Description

This worksheet is a spelling correction exercise targeting fourth-grade students. It lists ten words, some of which are intentionally misspelled by omission of letters. Students must decide if each word is missing letters by writing ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on the first line, and then correctly spell the word on the second line, including any letters that were omitted. At the end of the worksheet, there’s a prompt for the students to write down the word they found most difficult to spell, allowing for targeted practice.

The worksheet’s objective is to enhance the students’ ability to identify when a word is incomplete and to correct it by adding the missing letters. This task promotes attention to spelling detail and reinforces knowledge of word construction. It also helps in expanding the students’ vocabulary, especially with more complex words. The final writing task helps students to focus on the words they find most challenging, thus addressing individual learning needs. This 4th grade spelling worksheet has students label a series of letters as a word or word fragment.  Students will add any missing letters to form proper words.
