Past Portal

Past Portal Worksheet

Worksheet Description

Students travel through time by turning silent e base words into past-tense forms. They first remove the final e, add -ed, and write the completed word in a transformation chart. In the second section, students change the roots in parentheses to finish sentences about explorers, artists, castles, and historic towers. The time-travel theme matches the focus on actions that already happened.

This worksheet helps students form regular past-tense verbs correctly. The chart shows that adding -ed does not mean keeping an extra e in words that already end with one. Sentence practice also teaches students to use past-tense forms where the meaning calls for completed action. This builds spelling accuracy, tense awareness, grammar control, and stronger narrative writing.

This worksheet is part of our drop the e spelling worksheet series.
