Sentence Partners

Sentence Partners Worksheet

Worksheet Description

Students match the beginning of each sentence with the ending that completes it correctly. Every choice tests whether an -ed or -ing verb matches the time clue and the rest of the sentence. Students compare pairs involving actions at amusement parks, magic shows, races, parades, and other playful settings. They must pay close attention to words such as yesterday, now, and after before choosing.

This worksheet helps students understand that a verb ending must agree with when the action takes place. They practice using -ed for completed actions and -ing for actions that are happening or continuing. Comparing two similar sentence endings also teaches students to listen for what sounds and reads correctly. This builds grammar sense, reading comprehension, sentence fluency, and more accurate writing.

This worksheet is part of our adding -ed and -ing worksheet series.
