Word Surveillance

Worksheet Description

Students examine twenty sentences and locate one misspelled advanced word in each one. The sentences cover history, science, government, writing, research, art, and public ideas. Students circle the error and write the correct spelling on the line beside the sentence. The surveillance theme makes them responsible for catching every word that does not belong.

This worksheet helps students proofread vocabulary while also understanding sentence meaning. They learn to notice errors that may be hidden inside long words that still look almost correct. Rewriting the proper form gives students another chance to place the correct spelling into memory. This builds editing accuracy, vocabulary knowledge, focus, and independence.
