Letter Rescue
Worksheet Description
Students restore fourteen seventh-grade spelling words that have each lost three letters. The remaining letters give clues, but students must work out which missing letters belong in each blank. They then write the complete word on the line and check that it makes sense as a familiar vocabulary term. The rescue theme makes rebuilding advanced words feel like a focused mission.
This worksheet helps students break long words into smaller, easier-to-study parts. Filling in missing letters strengthens their memory of vowel patterns, syllables, prefixes, suffixes, and common letter groups. Students also learn to test whether a completed word looks correct instead of accepting the first idea that comes to mind. This builds spelling accuracy, word recognition, persistence, and stronger self-checking habits.
This worksheet is part of our 7th grade spelling words worksheet series.
